Terms of Service

Last updated: March 7, 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By installing, accessing, or using the ScrollVeil browser extension or any related services ("ScrollVeil"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use ScrollVeil.

2. Description of Service

ScrollVeil is a browser extension that uses local machine learning models to detect and blur potentially inappropriate visual content on web pages. ScrollVeil is a tool that assists with content filtering — it does not guarantee detection of all inappropriate content, nor does it guarantee that all flagged content is inappropriate.

3. Pricing and Subscription

ScrollVeil is currently available for free during the Early Access period. When Early Access ends, ScrollVeil will transition to a paid subscription model:

  • Free trial: 7 days of full access, no payment required
  • Monthly plan: $2.99 per month
  • Annual plan: $30.00 per year

All existing Early Access users will be notified before any pricing changes take effect. Prices are subject to change with reasonable notice provided to subscribers.

4. Account and Payment

When paid plans become available, you may need to create an account and provide payment information. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and for all activity under your account. Payment is processed through our third-party payment provider and is subject to their terms.

5. User Conduct

You agree not to:

  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble ScrollVeil's source code
  • Redistribute, sell, or sublicense ScrollVeil or any part of it
  • Use ScrollVeil in any way that violates applicable laws
  • Attempt to circumvent any security features or access restrictions
  • Use ScrollVeil to develop a competing product or service

6. Intellectual Property

ScrollVeil, including its code, design, models, branding, and all related materials, is the property of Michael Arold and is protected by copyright and intellectual property laws. All rights are reserved.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

ScrollVeil is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that ScrollVeil will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will detect all inappropriate content. ScrollVeil is a supplementary tool and should not be relied upon as the sole means of content filtering, particularly for the protection of minors.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Michael Arold and ScrollVeil shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, revenue, or profits, arising from your use of ScrollVeil. Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount you have paid for ScrollVeil in the twelve months preceding the claim.

9. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to ScrollVeil at any time for violation of these terms. You may stop using ScrollVeil at any time by uninstalling the extension and canceling any active subscription.

10. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of ScrollVeil after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

11. Governing Law

These terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States. Any disputes arising from these terms shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation, and if necessary, binding arbitration.

12. Contact

For questions about these terms, contact us at support@scrollveil.com.

Exceptions

We reserve the right to deny refund requests in cases of abuse, such as repeated subscription-and-refund cycles or violations of the Terms of Service.

Overview

ScrollVeil is a browser extension that protects users from unwanted visual content. This privacy policy explains how ScrollVeil handles your data. The short version: it doesn't collect any.

Data Collection

ScrollVeil does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data. Specifically:

  • No images or videos from your browsing are ever sent to any server
  • No browsing history, URLs, or page content is collected
  • No analytics, telemetry, or usage tracking of any kind
  • No user accounts or registration required
  • No cookies are set by the extension
  • No third-party services receive your data

How Analysis Works

All image and video analysis is performed entirely within your browser using local machine learning models (TensorFlow.js). Images are processed in memory and are never transmitted outside your device. Analysis results (scores and detection metadata) are stored temporarily in browser memory and are cleared when you navigate away or close the tab.

Settings Storage

Your preferences (blur strength, auto-unblur threshold, video analysis settings) are stored using Chrome's built-in sync storage API. This data is managed entirely by Chrome and syncs across your devices if you're signed into Chrome. ScrollVeil does not have access to any other Chrome sync data.

Bug Reports

If you choose to submit a bug report through the extension, you will be directed to a Google Form. Bug reports are entirely voluntary and may include the page URL and detection details. No data is sent automatically — you review and submit the form yourself.

Permissions

ScrollVeil requests the following browser permissions:

  • activeTab — to analyze images and videos on the current page
  • storage — to save your settings preferences
  • offscreen — to run TensorFlow.js ML models in a sandboxed environment
  • host_permissions (all URLs) — to provide protection on every website you visit

Third-Party Models

ScrollVeil uses open-source machine learning models (COCO-SSD, BlazeFace, BlazePose, MobileNet) loaded from TensorFlow Hub CDN. The model weights are downloaded once and cached by your browser. No user data is sent to TensorFlow Hub — only the model files are downloaded.

Children's Privacy

ScrollVeil is designed to help protect users of all ages from inappropriate content. The extension does not knowingly collect any data from children or any other users.

Changes to This Policy

If we update this privacy policy, the changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of ScrollVeil after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
